To help OFWs in building their dream business, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) offers the Laundry Business Package. This package is under the Overseas Filipino Workers-Enterprise Development and Loan Program (OFW-EDLP), in partnership with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) and the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP). This program aims to provide a chance for the OFWs and their families to have a source of income in the Philippines.
The Laundry Business Package will also be your way to avail of the Enterprise Development Loan Program which includes a capital loan and training on how to start and manage the business. This program can provide you a long-term benefits that will sustain your family’s needs in the future.
Overseas Filipino Workers-Enterprise Development and Loan Program (OFW-EDLP)
The Overseas Filipino Workers-Enterprise Development and Loan Program (OFW-EDLP) is one of the programs of OWWA that supports OFWs who are planning to start a new or expand their existing business. This program provides financial grants to eligible Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

You might think, there are a lot of businesses that OWWA can offer, so why the laundry business? Well, it turns out, that the laundry business is a steady stream of income since this kind of business doesn’t require a lot of employees and is a good start-up for new business owners. A laundromat also has high demands as more and more families choose to spend their time with family over doing the laundry. Students, hotels, restaurants, and other businesses also choose to outsource this chore.
The OWWA together with CS Laundry System Philippines Cop. & Northstar Instruments joined their forces to create “Make Money at Home with Your Family” OFW Negosyong Laundromat. This program is under the Reintegration Program that aims to help OFWs and their families a chance to stand on their own two feet. Some of the benefits of this program are:

The Laundry Business Package includes three (3) sets of Speed Queen Stacked Washer-Dryer that OFWs can use to start the business. The STLNX Stacked Washer-Dryer has the following features:
- 10.5kg small capacity for easy installation
- 2-year warranty
- 440 G-Force 1200RPM Extraction for shorter drying time
- 51.78 Liters water use
- 220 CFM airflow volume
This package also provides basic installation of electrical wires, water lines, gas lines, ducting, and machine housing. They also provide furniture (4 chairs and 1 table), signage, free detergent and fabric conditioner, laundry bags, and baskets. Interior Design, non-operational renovations, business registration and permits, and rental property are not included in this package.
Qualification
For OFWs who are interested in this business, make sure that you are qualified. Here is the list of qualifications to avail of the Laundry Business loan.
- Certified OFW (land-based and sea-based)
- Active OWWA member
- Loan application through LandBank
- With up to 1 million loanable amount and 20% equity
- Collateral (if needed)
Requirements
The Laundry Business sets requirements both for the site and demographics to make sure that the business will have enough customers to maintain and money to generate.
Site Requirements
- 30-40 square meter usable area
- Has existing main drain and water resource ready for tapping
- Has 100 amps electrical main breaker
Demographic Suggestions
- Direct access to residential areas
- Close by University campuses
- Close by tourist accommodation such as hotels and hostels
