OWWA Information Technology (IT) Training Program

In today’s generation, people are living in a fast-paced digital life. From communication and entertainment to work, we need the help of technology. Almost everything can be done online. This is the reason why workers also need to upgrade their technology application skills and to keep up with the ever-growing society.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) offers another training program that will give chance to our Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their beneficiaries to enhance their skills and use them to earn a living.

The OWWA Information Technology (IT) Training Program is totally free but the applicants need to meet the qualifications and submit the requirements needed to be part of it. This program offers Basic Computer Operation and Digital Media Arts. The module consists of Word Processing (Microsoft Word), Spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel), Presentation (Microsoft Powerpoint), Desktop Publishing (MS Office Publisher), Windows Movie Maker, and Adobe Photoshop.

The Information Technology (IT) Training Program is a FREE training program for active and inactive member of OWWA and their beneficiaries. This program aims to develop their Information Technology skills. The skills that they will learn will help them find a good and stable job because almost all kinds of jobs require basic computer skills.

The training will last for 10 days and the applicants can choose the nearest OWWA Regional or Satellite Welfare Office from their location.

Qualifications

OWWA’s active and inactive members, as well as their dependents, can enjoy this 10-day IT training program. Dependents just need to submit proof of relationship to the OFW. Here’s the list of qualified beneficiaries:

  • For married OFW
    • OFW spouse
    • Child of OFW who graduated high school and is under 20 years old.
  • For single-parent OFW
    • Child of OFW who graduated high school and is under 20 years old.
    • The child must be single/unmarried
  • For single OFW
    • Sibling of OFW who graduated high school and is under 20 years old.
    • Siblings must be single/unmarried

Requirements

If you are qualified for the Information Technology (IT) Training Program, you must start preparing for the documentary requirements. OWWA’s requirements for this training program are simple and easy to prepare. Here is the list of documents you need to apply:

  • Information Technology (IT) Training Program Application Form
  • Proof of OWWA membership
    • Membership record
    • Official receipt of OWWA contribution
    • OFW e-Card
  • Identification card with a photo of the OFW and the applicant
  • Proof of relationship to the OFW
    • Birth Certificate of the applicant
    • Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) of the OFW
    • Marriage Contract (for spouse)

Application Process

After completing all the documentary requirements, you are now ready to apply for the program. Every OWWA Regional or Satellite Office might require their applicants to book an appointment. It is better to call or go to the nearest RWO and ask the OWWA officer in charge.

Step 1: Get the application form from the OWWA Regional or Satellite Office near you. 

Step 2: Verify your OWWA membership by presenting your OFW ID, membership record, or official receipt of the OWWA contribution.

Step 3: Fill out the form and submit it to the OWWA officer together with all your documents.

Step 4: Wait for the notification through call, text, or email to confirm your application status.

Step 5: Once your application is approved, you will be given a schedule to claim the Notice of Award (NOA).

Step 6: Present the Notice of Award (NOA) when enrolling in the training center.
